July 2016

After visiting San Francisco and Yachats, we arrived in Portland, Oregon. We only had about 48 hours to see the city, so I would love to go back and spend more time there. However, all 48 hours were a blast. We ate a lot of great food, found some fun shops and had a blast visiting.

Powell's City of Books

Powell’s City of Books is a book lover’s paradise. It had more books than I have ever seen. They had recommendations or reviews by employees on a lot of books, which I thought was a great way to encourage customers to try new things. If you like to read and visit Portland, definitely visit Powell’s. I think I could have spent the whole two days exploring every aspect of that bookstore.

Rogue Brewery

I didn’t realize it at the time, but we spent about 75% of our time in Portland eating and Rogue brewery was the start of it all! We tried several different beers, but my favorite was the Chipotle Ale.

After Rogue Brewery we happened upon TILT for dinner. The menu looked good and the atmosphere seemed fun so we gave it a try.

TILT was so good! They had the BEST tater tots that I have ever had.

Vodoo Doughnuts

After dinner and wandering around some more in downtown Portland, we got in line for Vodoo Doughnuts. We only had to wait about 20 minutes to order but our bellies were too full to eat the doughnuts right away, so we took them back to the hotel for snacks while we watched TV.

Wandering Down 23rd Avenue

23rd Avenue has a lot of picturesque shops and restaurants. We ate brunch at Fireside, which had great food at good prices. We went in several different little shops afterward.
